Welcome to the digital portfolio!
My name is Django, and I work in many different fields - film & TV, theatre, graphic design, game design, tech, events... the list goes on.
I have made work for the screen, stage and page, as well as award-winning participatory projects for non-traditional audiences.
Much of my work is at the intersection of art and technology. I design and develop dynamic, engaging audiovisual content with a focus on bold visual narratives.
There's so much to say and to show, so explore this site to see the kind of work I do (or skip to the Sitemap if you don't like exploring).
Cover art & design for Broken Horses by Kate Beales
Broken Horses is a novel by Kate Beales and published by Linen Press in September 2025.
The artwork is ink on paper, using liquid masking tape for the silhouette of the horse and cleaned up digitally in Photoshop. Check out a timelapse of the cleanup below.
The book is available to purchase here.
I also created a short promotional documentary for the book, exploring the story behind Kate's writing it and the associated history in Southern Patagonia in the 1920s.
Videogame design for Prince of Darkness Jr.
Prince of Darkness Jr. is a box-pushing puzzle game for PC originally created as an entry for the 1Bit Game Jam 2023.
You play as a vampire whose home is being invaded: push crates around rooms to cast shadows, solve puzzles, and avoid sizzling in the light!
I was the lead designer on this game, creating all visual assets, animations, and key art for marketing, as well as producing the music, designing around half of the levels, and additional coding.
The game was made in the Unity Engine, written in C#, and designed using Adobe CC.
We wanted to keep written language to a minimum so that it would be easy to localise (the game is available in 8 languages!), which meant lots of visual communication in level selection and menus.
This was my first time doing puzzle design, which was really exciting - how do you guide a player to figure out solutions to puzzles by themselves? How do you keep it fun in the process?
You can play the demo online or purchase on the Steam store. Watch the trailer below.
Knackered - a short film in Welsh
Knackered is a Welsh-language short comedy which I directed and co-wrote with Glyn Owen.
The film follows Teifi and Beca, two young women in rural Ceredigion who go to ridiculous lengths to hide a dead body on a sheep farm.
Knackered has played at over a dozen festivals so far, including multiple international screenings, several minority-language-specific festivals, and the National Eisteddfod 2025 in Wrexham. It recently won the Best Comedy award at Tir Ddraig Film Festival 2025.
The film features music from producer Stevie J Jones and triple harpist Cerys Hafana.
More info on the film here.
Creative Captions & video design for Blue Apple Theatre's Sherlock Holmes and the Thief of Antiquity
I regularly design video and captions for Blue Apple, a theatre company based in Hampshire which creates shows with learning disabled casts.
For this original production, I was given free rein to design the video for Sherlock's thoughts and deductions. We were able to projection map captions across the whole stage so that specific lines would appear near the characters speaking
The animations were designed in After Effects and the captions were run on Isadora.

App design and animation for the English National Opera's Finish This... project
In 2022, the English National Opera were running a schools outreach project called Finish This... which encouraged school classes to create their own operatic pieces using voices, instruments, and found objects.
The ENO wanted a way to present all these creations, and wanted schools to be able to make their own animated music videos if they wished. I was asked to come up with a solution so that schools could create their own custom music videos in response to the audio they had already made.
Using Max MSP for its audio capabilities, I created a standalone app for Windows which would let the user customise animations which would programmatically respond to the music.
See below for some of the animations I created, a peek behind the curtain on what the node-based programming looked like, and my explainer video on how to use the application.
Animated reels for Ant Story by King Louie's Lab
I animated some of the Ant Story comics, originally created by King Louie's Lab.
The reels have amassed over 3 million views on instagram and have garnered over 200,000 likes.
The assets were hand drawn by the original artists and then I rigged and animated everything in After Effects.
Ghost Insurance - award-winning short film
Ghost Insurance is a short comedy about a shady salesman and a gullible father which I wrote, directed, and did VFX for.
Winner of Best Young Filmmaker at Wigan & Leigh Film Festival 2023 and Young Filmmaker of the Year (Fantastic Category) at Cinemagic Film Festival 2023. Nominated for Best Writing at BFI Future Film Festival 2024.
Starring Nabil Elouahabi (The Outrun, Top Boy, Ali G Indahouse), Darcy Dixon, and Charlie Folorunsho.
Microshorts
During 2024 I created a series of micro short films with filmmaker friends. Here are a couple:
Broken Horses short documentary
Director, videographer, editor. Filmed in Southern Patagonia in 2023.
Forgotten People, Forgotten Planet
Forgotten People, Forgotten Planet was a series of three short films by the Blue Apple Special Assignments Company exploring how the learning disabled community are included or excluded from conversations about climate change. The films toured libraries in Hampshire as an art installation.
More info about the project here.
Production crew credits
I've worked on a lot of short films, and often end up taking on other roles - such as:
YouTube edit for One Life screening at London Film Festival
In 2023 I worked as an editor for Window Zebra Media and was part of the team editing Red Carpet footage from London Film Festival for the BFI YouTube channel.
One of the main videos I worked on was for the premiere of One Life.

YouTube edit for One Life screening at London Film Festival
I was the editor for Sky Cinema's reveal video for the Surprise Film at London Film Festival 2023.
Because it was a surprise, I had to receive and ingest the footage, edit and caption the clip, and then export and deliver to social media before the film had finished playing!
Watch the clip on YouTube, or watch the extended interview with Michael Mann which I edited the same night.
Trailers for Circus Piddly
Circus Piddly is the "UK's smallest tented circus" - I produced and edited trailers and additional video content for their 2025 tour around the South of England.
I also produced the posters for the show the previous year.

Animated logo for The Yellow Path, an acupuncture training program
I'm working on The Yellow Path's website redesign, and as part of that helped create animated versions of the logo.
Visit the website here.
Film title design & animated credits sequences
I've created opening and closing titles for several short films. For my short film Pratfall, I animated the characters for the closing credits (and was credited under my cartoonist pen name, Wes Beckett).
Other films which I've done title design for include It's My Party, directed by Rosie Robinson (below) and Waiting, directed by Katie Friedli Walton.
Video design & captions for The View by the Zoo Co Young Company
The View was performed in 2025 at Southwark Dials Playhouse, and included graphics, animations, live wireless camera feeds, and on-stage chroma key.
The show follows three employees at a cinema who are sucked into a magical world of real life movies.
Video design for performance artist Agrona Ethelburga
Agrona Ethelburga (aka Glyn Owen, my co-writer on Knackered) is a drag artist who has performed across the UK and abroad.
I have been video designer for three of her acts: MADUNNASHARNA at Masterball 2025 (right), her performance of Kentucky Route Zero at Slaystation's Indie Games Night (2025), and the Welsh language piece Trowthy at Chapter Arts Centre (below).
Check out Agrona's instagram here.
UNBOUND: Grassroots improvised performance nights
UNBOUND was an (ir)regular improvised performance variety night featuring local artists in South London.
For each show, I would design the poster, edit the trailer, and then tech the performances and create live video art in response to the performance.
This would be a mix of pre-curated video loops, text, and live drawing, across multiple projection surfaces.
Each show was teched and projection mapped using Adobe Photoshop and Isadora.
Captions & video design for Blue Apple Theatre's Animal Farm
I've done many shows for Blue Apple Theatre, but this was a highlight because of how text was integrated into the set design.
Watch a recording of the show on YouTube.
Captions for Don't Feed The Penguin, a variety night by Zoo Co
Don't Feed The Penguin was a variety night hosted at Stanley Arts Centre aiming to confront the lack of accessible scratch and cabaret nights in the performing arts world.
I ran captions for the scripted segments of the show -- and occasionally typed as fast as I could for non-scripted segments!
More info here.
Posters for Short Films
Here are the posters for some of my previous short films.
Posters for Short Films
Here are some of the posters & flyers I designed for Circus Piddly.
Poster design for other shows
I've designed a lot of posters for theatre - here are a few examples:
Logo & poster design for Maybe You Like It Productions
I designed the logo for Maybe You Like it back in 2019, and since then I've done occasional poster designs for them.
Pleading Stupidity is a fast paced comedy play based on a true story about two people trying to rob a bank while wearing their work name tags.
Sorry (I broke your arms and legs) is a 'play in several powerpoints' which toured England and Wales in 2025.

Illustrations for Divoké nápady v bezpečném prostředí [Safe Spaces for Wild Ideas] by Eva Blechová
I illustrated this non-fiction book about creative problem-solving.
The book was written by Czech playwright and author Eva Blechová, who recently won Best Radio Play of the Year at the Prix Bohemia Radio festival for her radio drama about Marie Curie.

Cartoons for The Cherwell
While I was at university I was the student newspaper cartoonist, drawing under the name 'Wes Beckett'. Here are a few cartoons I drew during my last year.
More cartoons (with absolutely no context) on the Wes Beckett website.
The cartoon on the right is in response to Dominic Cummings driving to Barnard Castle during lockdown 'to test his eyesight'.
This one was made in the lead up to 17th May 2021, when lockdown restrictions were to be lifted.
This last cartoon was in response to government advertisements encouraging 'Fatima' the ballet dancer to enter 'cyber'.
Artwork for Joel David Hamkins' Mathematics and Philosophy of the Infinite blog
Professor Joel David Hamkins is a mathematician and philosopher at the University of Notre Dame who is an expert in Infinity and has a particular interest in infinite variants of games.
I created this artwork, titled 'Recursive Chess', as a gift (and provocation!) for Professor Hamkins. It spawned lengthy discussions and debates, which ended up becoming a blog post on his website and an article on his substack.
See discussions of the related ideas here and here.
Branding & web design for Pond Area Games
I designed the logos, branding, and website for Pond Area and the videogame Prince of Darkness Jr.
The brief was a small website which could easily scale up with more games added to the company's slate, since most traffic would be going through Steam or Itch rather than the company's own page.
Visit the website here.
Wordmark design for Wolftrap
Wolftrap is an Americana / Indie Rock band based in Los Angeles.
I designed their logo in 2023, which they've been using on album artwork ever since.
Read more and listen to their music here.
Logos & branding for MeetBee
MeetBee (originally HostBee) is a digital services company providing tech support for high-stakes virtual meetings.
I designed the original HostBee logo in 2021, and then updated it in 2022 when they rebranded as MeetBee.
I also designed the logo for their subsidiary, MeetBee Academy.
Visit MeetBee's website.
Additional web design for The Drive Project
I came onboard to help update pages after The Drive Project had re-designed their website in 2022.
Visit The Drive Project.
Web design for drone photography company AltaView Aerials
The first website I designed was for a drone photography company based in Los Angeles called AltaView Aerials.
Unfortunately the website is no longer being maintained.
Entry for 1Bit Jam 2023
In 2023 I teamed up with programmer Eddie Rayner to create a videogame in 1 week using only two colours at a time for the 1Bit Jam on Itch.io.
Out of 546 entries, the game ranked 14th overall, also placing 6th for gameplay and 14th for music.
We would later expand upon the project, and it became the fully fledged PC game Prince of Darkness Jr.
Play the original submission here.
Assets for mobile game Balloon Breakout (2016)
While I was still in school, I designed the assets for a small mobile game called Balloon Breakout.
The game is no longer available on the iOS or Android app stores, but there are still traces of it on the internet.
Short films: directing, writing, and more
I am a BFI alumnus and former BAFTA mentee. I tend to make comedy / dramedy short films with pacy dialogue and whacky twists.
Short films I have directed:
I have worked on a lot of other short films in various crew roles, in both production and post-production.
I have recently started curating film screening events to showcase minority language media; our first event was at the National Eisteddfod 2025 in Wrexham.
Editing & VFX
I edit video for narrative shorts, events, trailers, explainers, and many more.
I'm good at working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
I make clear, structured edit files which are easy to hand over and good for collaboration.
My post-production skills and software proficiencies include:
Animation & Motion graphics
I do traditional animation (such as my animation for the Pratfall credits) either hand-drawn or digitally using Photoshop.
I do rigged character animation (such as the Ant Story reels) using Photoshop and After Effects.
I occasionally do stop motion animation using Dragonframe.
I do all my motion graphics in After Effects, often using expressions for procedural animation and complex compositions.
Here's a short animation & motion graphics reel from 2023:
Video for performance
I do video design, AV tech, and scripted captions for theatre and live events.
I design all my video assets with Photoshop and After Effects and then build showfiles in Isadora, QLab, or OBS (sometimes a mix!), often networking with Midi, OSC, and NDI and progamming more complex behaviours in Javascript.
I have done shows with live camera feeds, projections integrated into set design, and creative captions.
I have done eight shows with Blue Apple, a Hampshire-based Theatre company which makes shows with learning-disabled casts.
As of the start of 2026, I am AV1 for Perfect Show For Rachel, a tech-heavy show produced by Improbable and Zoo Co.
Graphic design: posters and posts
I make posters, flyers, and other graphics in Photoshop (and occasionally in InDesign or in Canva if working with clients who want to edit the graphics later).
Illustration & Artwork
I tend to draw by hand and then colour digitally, although I occasionaly colour using ink.
I used to draw a lot of comics, and every now and then I get to put one into a project.
I occasionally paint.
Logos & branding
I occasionally design logos and branding packs.
I tend to sketch ideas by hand, draw on Photoshop, and then refine in Illustrator.
Above: QCx Marketing (has since rebranded), Something Punchy Productions, and Write For Change UK (no longer operating).
Web & app design
I prototype websites and apps in Adobe XD or Figma.
I've built websites using design tools like Squarespace, Wix, and Wordpress.
I often write websites 'manually' in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
This web page was made completely from scratch - no templates, no AI! (just a little inspiration from the BBC news website!)
I've made standalone apps using Unity and Max MSP.
Videogame design
I'm fairly new to the world of game development.
We created Prince of Darkness Jr. using the Unity engine, writing in C#, with assets made in Photoshop, Illustrator, Aseprite, and After Effects.
For our next game, we're moving from Unity to Godot.
Other work
I've done so much different work that it's hard to fit it all in -- so here are some other things I haven't been able to include otherwise.
-
One For All: a livestreamed gameshow with remote contestants
-
Pinocchia: an award-winning remote performance
-
Facilitation work and arts workshops
-
Tech support for simultaneous interpretation
-
Minority language film screenings
-
Four More Walls: award-winning digital workshops
